I think that Keith Haring's work is so interesting and complex while being incredibly simple. His iconic figures are nothing but a simple molded line and I find that I am interested by every single piece of his work. I only wish that I was riding the New York subway in the 1980's so I could have witnessed the work take place and become discovered.
- DAVID HOCKNEY
I have already replicated one piece of Hockney's and I am really looking forward to the next. While Hockney is known for a few different mediums, I personally am drawn to his photocollages/photomontages. I realized that these take a lot of planning for them to look the way they do. Hockney experiments with both photographing portraits and landscapes, filling the space and only filling what is necessary. I really like how he can take a concept and make 20+ works of art that are so different.
ELIZABETH LIPPMAN
Elizabeth Lippman is a photographer working today in New York City who focuses on portraits, editorial shots, fashion photography and reportage documentary. I especially like her reportage documentary because I admire how she can capture the essence of an event in such a creative way through her choice of angles and shodows. I also find that her photographs have a lot of energy which makes them more enjoyable to look at.
JACK PIERSON
Jack Pierson has a very recognizable style regarding the way his letter sculptures are put together. Despite this, I still find it interesting to see what he writes with the letters this time and how its different from the last.
NICK KNIGHT
I really admire Nick Knights' fashion portraits because they exude so much energy and movement. They are not always "pretty" but I like how they are all unique and strange.
RON JAUTZ
Ron Jautz has an extensive portfolio of interesting and intriguing photos that range from portraits to landscapes and everything in between. He has an entire collection shot by a Diana camera and they are pictures from around the world. Other series of his include "My Favorite Chair" in which he photographs people in none other but their favorite chair and "My New York" which is a collection that showcases New York from his eyes. The thing that I admire most about Ron Jautz is his versatility; whether its film or digital, portrait or ladscape, abstract or realistic.
HAROLD EDGERTON
Harold Edgerton is known for his high speed photography, which I think is very cool to look at. Its a form of photography that I can only imagine is as hard or harder than it looks. I think that Edgerton's photos capture movement very well and are very entertaining.
